Produced by Pilot Theatre in association with ARCADE
Supported by YMCA Scarborough
SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER 2020
We want to set free the stories of girls who live along the North East coastline, encouraging them to write and present the tales that matter to them the most in 2020.
Pilot Theatre and ARCADE bring you Northern Girls, a project which sees a small group of young women from Scarborough develop short stories or monologues for public performance. Each young writer will receive professional mentorship from playwright, theatre-maker and multi-slam winning spoken word artist, Hannah Davies.
The new pieces of work will be performed by professional actors in an outdoor performance space
during the last week of October. These pieces will also premiere alongside newly commissioned short plays by professional playwrights from Yorkshire and the North East.

From spectacular bonfires to digital blazes; the nation’s leading touring theatre companies will present a series of theatrical events at locations across the UK, in celebration of our fundamental need to tell stories.
ARCADE and Pilot Theatre will be lighting the beacon in Scarborough with Northern Girls, as they bring the fireside to the seaside.
