Something strange was happening at Scarborough Spa during Christmas 2025 and the caretaker just didn't know what to do. Water was springing up everywhere - taps were leaking, pipes were bursting, there were puddles on the floor and there was a watery whisper coming from somewhere…
Audiences came to help solve the mystery!
From the producers of much loved show, Grue, SPRiTES was a playful and beautiful immersive experience for families. Featuring a performer and an enchanting new world to explore, families discovered magic in Scarborough’s spa waters.
SPRiTES was a new show in development in need of audience feedback, with the goal being to bring a larger version back to Scarborough in the future.
SPRiTES was funded by North Yorkshire Council, Arts Council England, Scarborough Spa, Scarborough Lights and Scarborough Fair, and sponsored by Boyes.

SPRiTES took place in the Prom Lounge in Scarborough Spa. There were disabled parking bays in the car park.
Scarborough Spa is a wheelchair accessible building with ramps and an accessible toilet.
SPRiTES was a walk through, immersive experience that lasts approximately 15 minutes, with a craft activity afterwards. There were actors, dim lights and haze. No flashing lights or strobe. There were voices, as well as surprising, but not loud, sounds.
Noise cancelling headphones and audio description were available on all dates.
