GRUE 2023
Scarborough Library
2nd - 23rd December 2023

Designed by Steve Wintercroft
Produced by ARCADE supported by Scarborough Library
Funded by Arts Council England, Yorkshire Coast Bid and North Yorkshire Council

Back for its third year, popular immersive installation, Grue by Wintercroft, returns in a new home! Built by our community and made entirely from recycled and repurposed materials, Grue can be reached through a magical door on the top floor of Scarborough Library.
Grue invites you to step into a fantastical world and explore a series of enchanting landscapes. Travel through dense forest and across icy regions on an important mission, discovering forgotten creatures both big and small.
With your help, this wondrous world can be documented once and for all and a lost librarian can find the final chapter of their book, reclaim their story and place it on the library shelves for good.
This year Grue has live actors, but don’t worry – nothing scary or gory here, no surprises or jump scares! Grue provides a welcoming wintry experience for all the family and there are hot drinks and snacks available on site.

PRICES
Tickets are £4. We don't want price to be a barrier, so there is an option to Pay What You Can when booking.
If you're able, why not donate the cost of a ticket through the Pay it Forward option? We are a registered charity and all ticket funds and donations are used to produce Grue and other similarly wonderful things!

ACCESS
Grue is on the top floor of Scarborough Library, there is lift access. The lift is 80cm wide. If you have any specific access requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch info@hello-arcade.com
GRUE DROP-IN BUILD WORKSHOPS
Why not come along to a Grue build workshop? All are welcome to these drop-in sessions where we turn recycled cardboard and materials into something more magical. Work with experienced artists and facilitators to make creatures, backdrops and other items for the magical wintry world of Grue.
No experience required, only a willingness to try something new and get involved. All ages are welcome but children under 12 will need to be accompanied by a parent or carer.
Grue drop-in workshops are free to attend at Scarborough Library. No need to book – just show up!
