Taking place at Woodend Creative and hosted by the brilliant Crescent Arts...

Crescent Arts' Curator Martha will welcome everyone, followed by a special out of hours viewing of the current works on display by the talented Andrew Omoding: Welcome to me, Scarborough. To See and Hold my Work. As ever, there will be time to network after too with a bring your own bottle policy for this event - alcoholic and non alcoholic welcome.

We believe everyone is an artist and that they have the potential to develop their skills and collaborate with others.

Scarborough Creatives is open to all artforms, artistic practices, abilities and levels of experience, whether you self-define as a professional artist or simply enjoy doing creative things. You need to be 16+ please.

What is it?

  • A way for creative people who live in the borough to talk, share and collaborate. 

  • Support in creating opportunities for professional development, training, funding or paid work in the area.

 

Who runs it?

  • ARCADE & Stephen Joseph Theatre in collaboration with COAST (Scarborough’s Local Cultural, Education and Community Partnership)

 

  • Rach Drew (ARCADE) is chairing the group for now, alongside Ceri Smith.

 

What does it do?

  • Representation. Giving freelance artists and creatives working/living in Scarborough Borough a voice, ensuring their views are represented at COAST (and other strategic groups). 

  • Connecting people and fostering collaboration.

  • Speakers for inspiration, skills and knowledge sharing.

  • Supporting people along their creative journey, by offering a listening ear or signposting to advice or training.

  • Promotion of opportunities.

  • Helping to create opportunities to develop joint funding bids.

Where and when does it meet?

Monthly - not all members want to meet and that is absolutely fine. Check the page for the latest meeting, usually in the last week of the month. 

Access

  • This is an inclusive and anti-racist group, open to people from all backgrounds.

  • We will aim for sessions to be as accessible as possible, please let us know in advance if you have any access requirements.

  • Sessions will be free
